What is Diverse Gaming Coalition?

November 7, 2016

Did you know that, "Some 65% of internet users ages 18-29 have experienced some type of online harassment."? Yeah, I know. We're just as upset with this statistic as you are.

Are we shocked about it? No. With "suicide... climbing — and... doing so for every age group under 75," this easily correlates with the rising number of people harassed online. But, we can do something about it.

We're Diverse Gaming Coalition, and we strive to do what others just simply don't do. We are a non-profit organization based in the Pittsburgh, PA/ Morgantown, WV area focusing on online harassment. We are all inclusive and work globally.

You may be asking yourself, "What is this organization, and what does this have to do with me?"

Well, I'm glad you asked! Diverse Gaming Coalition believes that youth should get involved in their community, especially with this growing issue that no one is talking about, online bullying. With this, we created our "Partner Project" program. Trying to do things yourself can be difficult sometimes, and that's why we are here at your disposal. You could pick any topic that is within the means of our mission statement. Once that is done, head over to our "Get Involved" page to submit an application for the "Partner Projects" program.

Hold up. What are Partner Projects?

Partner Projects are community based projects that alter to different community needs. These projects are a step-by-step process that is looked over and supported by the Diverse Gaming Coalition team to ensure the best and most impactful projects. Partner Projects are done in your own community anywhere in the United States to tackle the injustice of your choice in your own community, weather online or in your own town. Partner Project applications can be submitted all year long, and can be started/ completed at any time during the year.

Do not feel obligated to have a solid plan or even idea of what you would like to do, that is what we are here for! We want you to succeed step by step, so we will help you with all of it, even the little things.

But, maybe that's not you. Maybe you just want to cheer along from the sidelines, and that is totally okay! Being an advocate for change can mean so many different things, such as donating, helping with community service, and even listening to what people have to say. With all of that in mind, we also host fun events that aren't to daunting to listen in to. Our goal is to make our events enjoyable and educational, not just one or the other. Keep posted on our events tab on our website for more information.

Throughout the upcoming months, we will have more information posted and a lot more available to you! Make sure to share this and spread the word about Online Harassment!
